Hart supporting families in need with the cost of living crisis
Seven community groups have received funding from Hart District Council to support families in need during the Cost of Living crisis.
The Winter Grants Scheme provides grants to local organisations to ensure spaces, resources, advice and help are available to Hart resident struggling to make ends meet.
The funded projects include cooking sessions, food pantries and parcels, wellbeing support and community hubs.
Groups were invited to apply for the grants in January and February for schemes that increased standards of living and wellbeing within Hart communities. To date, £17,097 has been awarded with further funding for future grant rounds planned.
Councillor Stuart Bailey, portfolio holder for Community, said: “We all need nutritious food and warmth – but the reality is that many people are finding it hard to afford these essentials. Many residents have also experienced impacts on their health and wellbeing. This grant scheme will play an important role in supporting those who need it the most.”
The seven successful projects are:
- Cook & Eat Programme – Young Carers
- Open Door Project – Fleet Phoenix
- ‘Cook well for less’ sessions – Christians Against Poverty
- Community pantry support – Yateley Industries
- Community hub support – Darby Green Centre / St Barnabus Church
- Over 55s Forum – Hartley Wintney
- Community oven – Hartley Wintney Women’s Institute
